New install and 'this version no longer works'?

Postby davmp on Tue Sep 24, 2013 3:14 pm

Hello,

I installed the Property-Bee XPI today in Firefox. Upon relaunch, trying it out I get the following error pop-up:
Code: Select all
   "Please visit http://www.property-bee.com and download the latest toolbar, this version no longer works."

I visited that link, clicked the 'Install Now!' top-bar menu item, and reinstalled it again. Again upon relaunch I get the same error message.

I tried viewing properties on Rightmove.co.uk anyway, and then got the following pop-up error:

Code: Select all
  Failed to find/insert postcode for property rm28081368 because Postcodes.Lat may not be NULL

  Error;
    [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80630003 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_CONSTRAINT) [mozIStorageStatement.executeStep]"  nsresult: "0x80630003 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_CONSTRAINT)"  location: "JS frame :: chrome://property-bee/content/pb_db.js :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 81"  data: no]

  Call stack;
   undefined

  Do you want to send property-bee.com information about this error?

What's going wrong?

Best workaround for me was to uninstall and then install the slightly older version of PB

How did you find an old installer? The Install Now! item immediately downloads a version without giving me a chance to select a version.

Guys,
Sorry to say but it appears that property-bee is dead.

Beerhunter hasnt posted since May 2012 (although he has been here in the past week).

Sorry I cant help you with the issues but it appears the purchasers of PB just bought it to let it rot.

It was fun though from BHs first shoutouts on GHPC to now.....

will still check the RSS from time to time (feel free to PM me BH),

regards to all,

As far as I can tell, the version that doesn't work is v2.0.16.2 - all I got was the error message 'this version no longer works', so I uninstalled it.

I then installed version 2.0.16.0 instead - this one does work (with Firefox 24.0) and shows the property history with Rightmove. It's available here http://www.property-bee.com/downloads.php.

My question is - how accurate are the dates it gives with Rightmove? For instance, is the 'Initial Entry Found' date the same as the actual date a house went on the market?

The dates reflect when the property was viewed by another "bee". So the initial entry date is the date that property was first viewed by a bee. For popular properties in popular areas the dates are likely to be pretty accurate but for out-of-the-way places could be a bit off.
